Lahore (Web Desk): A recent study has claimed that olive oil may also help to prevent brain cancer after killing cancer cells in just 30 minutes.

There are numerous health benefits of olive oil; it can reduce risk of obesity and heart disease, as well as cognitive improvements. The oil can treat Brain cancer as well.

Study co-author Dr. Gracjan Michlewski, of the Wellcome Trust Centre for Cell Biology at the University of Edinburgh in the U.K., and colleagues has recently reported their findings in the Journal of Molecular Biology.

The researchers have found that one phenolic compound in Extra-virgin olive oil (EVOO)  – oleocanthal (OC) – can induce rapid death in cancer cells while leaving healthy cells intact.

Oleocanthal or oleic acid (OC) is a monounsaturated fatty acid present in olive oil that can stop cancer-causing protein activity in brain cells.
