Washington, U.S. (Reuters): American President Donald Trump signed a new immigration order today (Wednesday) that removes Iraq from the list of countries whose citizens were facing a temporary U.S. travel ban, U.S. officials confirmed.
U.S. officials said that the decision followed pressure from the Pentagon and State Department. They had urged the White House to reconsider Iraq's inclusion given its key role in fighting the Islamic State group, it added.
An earlier order was blocked by federal courts.
