Beirut (Online): At least 28 civilians were killed in air strikes by government forces on rebel-held region near Damascus, Syria, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitor confirmed.

According to the observatory , 22 people including two children were killed in the air strike, the highest death toll in Douma town in Eastern Ghouta while 5 more civilians were killed in the town of Sabqa and one in the town of Harasta in the same region.

In the meantime, a two-day conference on the future of Syria and the region will begin in Brussels today (Tuesday).

It will bring together representatives of over 70 countries, international organizations and civil society.
