CM Shahbaz dismisses Jinnah Hospital MS over female patient's death

Lahore (Staff Report): Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday dismissed Jinnah Hospital’s Medical Superintendant (MS) Zafar Yousaf over the death of a female cardiac patient.

Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif dismissed the MS over negligence, carelessness and incompetence, while taking notice of the patient’s death had ordered an investigation and directed stringent action against responsible doctors and other staff members.

An initial report of Zahra Bibi’s death probe was presented in a meeting headed by Punjab CM.

He expressed serious resentment over the female patient’s death over not receiving adequate treatment.

He said that laying the patient on the floor was the worst form of abandoning duty and it will not be tolerated if a patient dies unattended on the hospital’s floor.

Provincial ministers, Khawaja Salman Rafique, Imran Nazir, health secretaries and other officials attended the meeting.

60-year-old Zahra Bibi died on Jinnah hospital’s floor on Monday after she was refused treatment at 3 state-run hospitals.
