Birmingham (Web Desk): India defeated Pakistan by 124 runs in its Champions Trophy’s opener on Sunday.

Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed won the toss and elected to field first.

India let rip against rival Pakistan to reach 319-3 from 48 overs.

Pakistan were set a revised target of 289 in 41 overs.

The match ended as Hasan Ali returned to the pavillion with no runs scored. Pakistan ended their innings at 164/9 after 33.4 overs as the match continued after a series of rain spells.

Pakistan lost their first wicket when Ahmed Shehzad fell for 12 runs lbw to Bhuvneshwar Kumar.

Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and Yuvraj Singh powered India to 324-3 against Pakistan.

A minute's silence was held before the match for the victims of the London Bridge attacks on Saturday night, amid heavy security at the West Midlands ground.
