LHC orders to remove blasphemous content from social media

Lahore (Staff Report): Lahore High Court (LHC) has ordered today (Wednesday) to immediately remove profane content from social media.

The apex court bench has directed the authorities to remove the blasphemous material from all social networking websites and sought report from federation and interior ministry in two weeks.

Earlier, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) had decided to form cybersecurity directorate for the surveillance of blasphemous content.

The Interior Minister told media that Facebook has assured Pakistan that concerns about blasphemous content on the social media site will be addressed and a company delegation will visit this week to discuss the issue with the government.

Director Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Dr. Mazhar Kakakhel submitted progress report in the court and informed that those bloggers who have escaped from the country would be brought back through red warrant.
