NAB’s plea bargain, VR laws’ beneficiaries to be banned for public office

Islamabad (Web Desk): Finance Minister said on Saturday that a amendments will be made before midnight on Jan 7, 2016 to disbar for life public office holders and government servants who have benefited from the National Accountability Bureau's (NAB) plea bargain and voluntary return laws.

The ordinance will be enforced from the very next day, and presented to the Senate and parliament on Monday, Dar said.

The finance minister noted that there had been considerable criticism from civil society, the political opposition and judiciary on Section 25-A of the NAB Ordinance, which allowed corrupt individuals to return to their posts after making a plea bargain with NAB.
