North Korea likely to strike U.S. military bases in Japan

Pyongyang, North Korea (Web Desk): Nuclear-armed North Korea claimed that its missile launches were training for an attack on US bases in Japan, as global condemnation of the regime swelled.

The latest declaration from Pyongyang comes the day after it launched four ballistic missiles 600 miles into the Sea of Japan, in an alarming show of strength.

Three of the four missiles fired on Monday landed provocatively close to US ally Japan, in waters about 300 km to 350 km from Oga Peninsula in Akita prefecture that are part of its exclusive economic zone, representing a challenge to American President Donald Trump.

Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe warned in a phone call that the threat from North Korea had “entered a new stage”.

Both United States and Japan requested United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to hold an emergency meeting over the escalating threat of North Korea.

Earlier on Tuesday, United States also started to deploy the first elements of its advanced anti-missile defense system in South Korea following the North Korea's test launch.
