Islamabad (Staff Report): The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Thursday refused chairman Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan’s objections and issued a show cause notice to him in Contempt of Court Case.
Earlier on Thursday, a 5-member tribunal of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) headed by the Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice Sardar Muhammad Raza resumed hearing of the case in Islamabad.
The tribunal ruled that it is within the ECP’s powers to take action on contempt of court during the proceedings and ordered the PTI chairman to submit reply in the ECP on August 23.
Earlier Imran Khan had challenged the ECP’s authority to hear the case.
