Collision among vehicles en-route to welcome disqualified PM leaves many injured

Jalalpur Bhattian (Staff Report): At least dozens people were injured when three vehicles which were en-route to Lahore from Jhelum to attend former prime minister Nawaz Sharif's so called ‘homecoming’ rally.

According to details, a convoy including several vehicles started their journey from Jalalpur Bhattian to attend the rally of former Prime Minister; however, 3 cars collided into each other due to over speeding.

All the injured have been taken to the DHQ hospital for medical aid.

On Wednesday, Nawaz Sharif, who was disqualified by five-member bench of the Supreme Court, set out from Punjab House, Islamabad after deciding to go home to Lahore via the GT Road.

Prior to his departure, Nawaz held a meeting with top party leaders, including Interior Minister Ahsan Iqbal and AJK Prime Minister Raja Farooq Haider.

Special arrangements have been made to ensure the smooth flow of rally from Kacheri Chowk, along the GT Road, to Rawat's T-Chowk. Arrangements have been made for commuters to use alternative roads once the rally is under way, claimed the police.
