CM Punjab to meet PM Nawaz over post-JIT strategy

Lahore (Staff Report): Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif left for the federal capital today (Wednesday) to attend a one-on-one meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.

During the meeting, matters related to the Panama case Joint Investigation Team (JIT) report will be discussed. Both Sharif brothers will also discuss challenging the JIT report in the Supreme Court, which hears the case post-report submission on July 17.

The premier’s close aides and legal experts will likely to brief PM Nawaz today, after back-to-back similar briefings since Monday, when the JIT report was submitted to the apex court.

The Sharif family has acquired the assistance of country’s 4 legal experts to help draft its reply on the JIT report to the Supreme Court.

Khawaja Harris will head the team of lawyers, which also includes Amjad Pervez, considered an expert on cases related to the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).

According to the JIT report, a list of 28 cases against the Sharif family that are in NAB, moreover, two cases are in the Security and Exchange Commission of Pakistan and as many with the Federal Investigation Agency.

Earlier on Tuesday, a high-level meeting chaired by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif decided that the premier will neither resign no dissolve the assemblies.
