Islamabad (Staff Report): The Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet approved another Rs 30 billion loan for the power sector.
The meeting chaired by Finance Minister Ishaq Dar took up a request of the USC for payment of its Rs 1.35bn subsidy claims on account of providing subsidised supplies of 11 essential commodities to the people. Dar ordered a special audit of subsidy claims by the Utility Stores Corporation.
However, the meeting did not clear waiver of withholding tax on dividend for 870-kilometre Matiari–Lahore transmission line to be built by a Chinese company under a negotiated cost and tariff for want of in-house discussions.
