Uproar at LHCBA ahead of lawyers convention on Panamgate verdict

Lahore (Web Desk): During All Pakistan Layers’ Convention on Panamagate verdict in Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA), an uproar broke out between lawyers where they demanded resignation from Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif today (Saturday).

All Pakistan Layers’ convention on Panamagate verdict was due to be held at 2:00 pm today at the call of LHCBA.

The lawyers reportedly affiliated to Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) protested against the lawyers’ convention which triggered a quarrel between the two groups. On the occasion, an apparent division was noticed as some lawyers chanted slogans in favour of the premier while others raising anti-government slogans.

The protesting lawyers also broke the glass windows of the venue, chanting slogans against the convention. The Muslim League Lawyers wing allegedly locked up the Supreme Court Bar president Rasheed A Razvi along with other lawyers inside the library of the bar.

Police reached the place to control the situation and avoid any untoward incident.

Talking to media after the incident, the Supreme Court bar president asserted that the lawyers’ convention will be held and the premier has to step down.

The prominent lawyer said, “They have repeated the incident of 1997 in the Supreme Court.”
