Islamabad (Web Desk): According to a notification, Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority PEMRA has banned TV anchor Amir Liaquat and his programme over malicious speech and blasphemy allegations.

Pemra notification reveals, “Amir Liaquat, the host of the programme named Aisay Nahi Chalay Ga shall not host any programme or appear in any manner, including but not limited to, as a guest, analyst, reporter, actor, in audio, video beeper, promo/advertisement on a private TV channel”.

The notice further discloses, “Amir Liaquat and his programme has been banned with direct effect for preaching hate”.

 The Pemra ban comes after “monitoring for several weeks that Amir Liaquat has repeatedly been violating Clause 3 (1) (h) (k) (l), Clause 4 (7) (c), Clause 13 (1), (2), Clause 22 (1) (3), Clause 23 of the Electronic Media Code of Conduct 2015, Section 20 of the Pemra Ordinance 2002 and Rule 15 of Pemra Rules 2009”.
