Spell of monsoon rains starts today across country

Lahore (Web Desk): The spell of widespread monsoon rains with a greater intensity begins across the country from today.

The spokesperson of Met Office said in Islamabad that the monsoon has already made onset in the country from Monday but isolated heavy falls are expected in Islamabad, Upper Punjab, Lower Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Eastern Balochistan and Kashmir today and tomorrow.

He said, the heavy falls may generate flash floods in the vulnerable areas particularly in Barsati Nullahs of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pothohar region, Gujranwala, DG Khan divisions and Kashmir. 

Further details shows that due to intermittent rains, there is also risk of landslides in hilly areas including Malakand and Hazara divisions, Gilgit-Baltistan and Kashmir.

All the concerned authorities are advised to remain alert today and tomorrow in view of this weather advisory.

Rainfall recorded:

Jhang 95 millimeter, Sibbi 55, Sahiwal 49, Moen-jo-Daro 35, Shaheed Benazirabad 24, Toba Tek Singh 21 and Rahimyar Khan 15 millimeter.

Rain-thundershowers with isolated heavy falls and gusty winds are expected during the next twelve hours, at Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Faisalabad divisions, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa, lower Sindh, FATA and Kashmir.

Rain-thundershowers with isolated heavy falls and gusty winds may also occur at scattered places of Sahiwal, Multan, Bahawalpur, DG Khan, Larkana, Sukkur, Zhob, Sibbi, Naseerabad, Kalat divisions and Gilgit-Baltistan.

Islamabad 25 ºC, Lahore 27 ºC, Karachi 32 ºC, Peshawar 28 ºC, Quetta 22 ºC, Gilgit 20 ºC, Murree 18 ºC and Muzaffarabad 21 ºC.
