Trump's allegations: Khurshid Shah demands joint parliamentary session

Islamabad (Staff Report): Opposition leader in the National Assembly Syed Khurshid Ahmed Shah has called for a joint session of Parliament to give a strong response to the United States’ new Afghan policy.

“Today’s session should have been started with the foreign minister’s speech but unfortunately this didn’t happen,” Shah suggested that a joint session of the parliament should be summoned to give a strong and clear message to Donald Trump.

The leader of the opposition questioned deposed prime minister Nawaz Sharif’s role as the country’s foreign minister for four years. “There are a lot of competent people in Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz but they [government] could not find a foreign minister,” he lamented.

Addressing the house, former Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar said noose is being tightened around Pakistan in the region. He said the government should take Trump’s allegations seriously.

Nisar said US policies have failed in Afghanistan for which Pakistan is not responsible.

PTI’s Shah Mehmood Qureshi said Foreign Minister Khawaja Asif rightly took the decision to visit China and Russia before heading to US, adding that the foreign minister should also visit Iran.
