COVID-19: Pakistan reports 2,458 new infections, 67 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 400,482 on Tuesday after 2,458 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall, 174,350 cases were reported in Sindh, 119,578 in Punjab, 47,370 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 17,187 in Balochistan, 30,406 in Islamabad, 4,658 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 6,933 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to the government's Covid-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached 8,091 with 67 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 343,286 after another 1,863 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, the federal cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Imran Khan is meeting today to discuss Covid-19 developments and steps being taken to monitor the spread of the virus.

The recommendations of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) for procurement of the vaccine will be also be presented before the cabinet for approval.

The cabinet will also discuss the overall political and economic situation of the country.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 62.6 million and death toll tops 1.458 million.
