Punjab govt removes Lahore CCPO Umar Sheikh 

Lahore (Web Desk): The Punjab government on Friday removed Umar Sheikh from the post of Lahore Capital City Police Officer (CCPO).

According to a notification issued by the Punjab chief secretary, Sheikh Umar has now been posted as the DIG of the Punjab Constabulary in Farooqabad.

Ghulam Mehmood Dogar has been appointed as new CCPO Lahore, the notification added.

The outgoing CCPO Lahore, who was appointed on special instructions of Prime Minister Imran Khan, has been into controversies since his appointment.

Umar Sheikh had immediately landed in hot waters when he got involved in a dispute with former Inspector General (IG) of Punjab Police Shoaib Dastagir.

Earlier, on September 14, Sheikh had to apologise for his statement on the Lahore motorway gang-rape incident in which he had said the victim woman shared the blame for it.

An audio call in which he allegedly misbehaved with a woman, seeking help for release of her husband from illegal detention.

Sheikh's replacement Ghulam Mehmood Dogar is also a BS-20 officer of the Police Service of Pakistan. He was previously serving as DIG Technical Procurement, Punjab Central Police Office

According to information released by the Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) office, Ghulam Mehmood Dogar who hails from Sialkot, is counted among some of the most professional, able and experienced police officers in Pakistan. He holds BSc Civil Engineering and MSc degrees.

Dogar joined the Police Service of Pakistan (PSP) as an assistant superintendent of police (ASP) in 1993 and belongs to the 21st Common Training Programme.

Since the start of his police career, Mehmood Dogar has served on numerous positions in various cities of Sindh, Balochistan and Punjab.
