CJP vows to ensure general elections on July 25

Lahore (Staff Report): Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar on Friday vowed to ensure that there is no delay in the upcoming general elections.

“General elections will be held on July 25 and we will not allow any delay no matter what,” Justice Nisar said during a hearing in the Supreme Court’s Lahore Registry on a petition against the Election Commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) code of conduct for the upcoming general elections.

Earlier the day, former Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice (retd) Nasirul Mulk took oath as caretaker prime minister of Pakistan after the 14th National Assembly completed its five-year term last night.

The oath taking ceremony held in Aiwan-e-Sadr at 11:00 pm today.

The country’s military leadership, civilian principals as well as diplomats attended the oath-taking ceremony of Nasirul Mulk for caretaker prime minister.
