Pakistan to free captured Indian pilot today as ‘peace gesture’

Islamabad (Staff Report): Pakistan will free captured Indian pilot Abhinandan Varthaman today (Friday) as a gesture of peace towards New Delhi.

The move was announced by Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday at a joint session of Parliament.

PM Imran said that Pakistan will release captured Indian pilot tomorrow (Friday) as ‘gesture of peace’. He said that efforts for de-escalation should not be considered weakness.

"The only purpose of our strike was to demonstrate our capability and will,” the premier said.

PM Khan said he tried to call Indian PM Narendra Modi on the phone yesterday (Wednesday) because "escalation is not in our nor in India's interest".
