COVID-19: Pakistan reports 6,047 new cases, 29 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 1,436,413 on Wednesday after 6,047 new cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall 544,722 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 482,316 in Punjab, 196,328 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 34,501 in Balochistan, 129,004 in Islamabad, 10,737 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 38,805 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

As per the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data, 61,190 tests were conducted in last 24 hours while positivity ratio remained 9.88%.

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 29,330 with 29 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 1,304,980 after another 9,590 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, the NCOC has decided to speed up the process of vaccinating people to avoid further spread of COVID-19.

The forum told that over 1.2 million people have been administered the vaccination in 24 hours. The number of total administered doses has reached to 174,085,175 across the country.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 382,300 million and death toll tops 5,706,695.
