COVID-19: Pakistan reports 765 new cases, 22 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to  1,510,986 on Wednesday after 765 new cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall 568,635 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 501,758 in Punjab, 216,273 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 35,352 in Balochistan, 134,442 in Islamabad, 11,512 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 43,014 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

As per the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data, 34,296 tests were conducted in last 24 hours while positivity ratio remained 2.23%.

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 30,218 with 22 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 1,445,245 after another 2,307 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, the NCOC has allowed 100% crowd capacity for the upcoming Australia series.

However, children 12 years of age and above (fully vaccinated) are allowed to watch the matches from the stands. Children below 12 years of age are also allowed without vaccination.

The forum directed the authorities that the COVID-19 protocols should be strictly followed by spectators and organizers.

The NCOC had earlier permitted 100% crowds during the Lahore leg matches of the recently concluded seventh edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 438,998 million and death toll tops 5,984,642.
