Anti-encroachment drive started across Lahore

Lahore (Staff Report): The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) has started an anti-encroachment drive across Lahore.

According to sources, LDA is going to retrieve 31,687 kanal state land, 280 acres land of the forest department, eight plots in the Walled City, 636 kanal land of LDA, and 32 plots worth Rs2 billion of the Metropolitan Corporation Lahore (MCL).

Moreover, 50,000 plants will be planted on the land retrieved from the forest department.

The operation will start from Sabzazar truck stand, Anarkali, Willingdon Road and Urdu Bazaar.

Earlier, the LDA had issued notices to illegal occupants in LDA, MCL and Walled City.

Last month, the Capital Development Authority (CDA) launched drive against illegally constructed wedding halls and other setups near Kashmir highway.

State Minister for Affairs Shehryar Afridi visited one of the sites where the drive was under way — G-12 near Kashmir highway — and said the structures constructed with official approval will be bulldozed.

Similar drives are also expected to take place in Lahore and Karachi as well in the coming days.
