COVID-19: Pakistan reports 625 new infections, 15 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The total number of recovered COVID-19 patients in Pakistan reached 298,055 on Friday after another 558 virus recoveries were reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 313,431 after 625 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country.

Overall, 137,467 cases were reported in Sindh, 99,605 in Punjab, 37,845 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 15,302 in Balochistan, 16,650 in Islamabad, 3,808 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 2,754 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to the government's Covid-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached 6,499 with 15 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) has directed all the provinces and federating units to crack down on SOPs violations in indoor restaurants and marriage halls.

In a tweet, Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar said indoor restaurants and marriage halls are emerging as high contributors to COVID-19 spread.

He said we must not allow irresponsible behaviour of some to put the health of everyone at risk.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 34.3 million and death toll tops 1,018,000.
