US denies to join global efforts for Covid-19 vaccine

Washington (Web Desk): The United States (US) will not join global efforts to find a Covid-19 vaccine, says White House spokesperson Judd Deere.

The spokesperson, in a statement, said the US will continue to engage international partners to defeat the virus, but will not be constrained by multilateral organisations influenced by the World Health Organisation (WHO) and China. Over 150 countries are setting up the Covid-19 Vaccines Global Access Facility.

Meanwhile, a White House official said that the Trump administration will send most of its newly purchased 150 million rapid Covid-19 tests to different US states for schools and critical services.

The move follows the decision by the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention to temporarily halt landlords across the country from evicting millions of tenants in what it said was an effort to reduce the spread of the contagion.
