COVID-19: Pakistan reports 3,582 new cases, 67 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 1,043,277 on Tuesday after 3,582 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall 387,261 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 358,387 in Punjab, 145,306 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 30,627 in Balochistan, 88,344 in Islamabad, 8,318 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 25,034 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

As per the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data, 49,798 tests were conducted in last 24 hours while positivity ratio remained 7.19%.

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 23,529 with 67 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 944,375 after another 1,355 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, the Punjab government has imposed a lockdown in Lahore, Multan, Rawalpindi and Faisalabad as cases of the coronavirus continue to increase across the country.

As per the notification, the lockdown has been imposed from Tuesday, August 3 and will remain in effect till August 31.

The decision to reimpose restrictions was taken by the NCOC after reviewing the worsening situation of the pandemic in the country.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 199.620 million and death toll tops 4,249,440.
