Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 834,146 on Monday after 4,213 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.
Overall 285,626 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 306,929 in Punjab, 120,064 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 22,620 in Balochistan, 76,209 in Islamabad, 5,327 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 17,371 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 18,149 with 76 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.
Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 728,044 after another 5,842 virus recoveries were reported.
Meanwhile, COVID-19 vaccination for people ageing between 40 to 49 years has started across the country from today.
Registration for the people aged below 50 has been going on since April 27, while the walk-in vaccinations for people aged 50 and above are underway.
As per the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), vaccination centres are working in two shifts during Ramadan.
A digital portal has been launched by the federal government for the registration through which a code is assigned to the person and then they need to visit the vaccination centre.
It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 151.803 million and death toll tops 3.186 million.
