COVID-19: Pakistan reports 553 new infections, 8 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The total number of recovered COVID-19 patients in Pakistan reached 298,593 on Saturday after another 538 virus recoveries were reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 313,984 after 553 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country.

Overall, 137,783 cases were reported in Sindh, 99,665 in Punjab, 37,908 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 15,323 in Balochistan, 16,713 in Islamabad, 3,816 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 2,776 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to the government's Covid-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached 6,507 with 8 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, India's death toll from the novel coronavirus has crossed 100,000 after which it has become the third country in the world to reach that bleak milestone, after the United States (US) and Brazil.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 34.5 million and death toll tops 1,025,000.
