Global Covid-19 cases cross 11 million, death toll tops 529,000

New York (Web Desk): The worldwide number of Covid-19 cases has crossed 11 million while the pandemic has claimed more than 529,000 lives.


The United States (US) has the highest number of cases and deaths with over 2.8 million cases and more than 132,000 deaths, followed by Brazil with over 1.5 million cases and more than 63,200 deaths.

The number of confirmed coronavirus cases in Saudi Arabia has crossed 200,000, its health ministry said.

The worst-hit country of the Gulf region has now 201,801 confirmed infections including 4,193 new cases on Friday alone, and 1,802 deaths.

India has become the new epicentre in Asia, rising to 625,000 cases.

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan on Saturday rose to 225,283 after about 3,387 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country over the last twenty-four hours.

Over 1.6 million patients have so far recovered from the disease across the world.
