SHC rejects Shehbaz Sharif’s petition seeking Faisal Vawda’s disqualification

Karachi (Web Desk): Sindh High Court (SHC) on Friday turned down the petition of the opposition leader in National Assembly and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and Federal Minister for Water Resources Faisal Vawda.

The PML-N leader had moved the SHC to declare the PTI leader ineligible by challenging Faisal Vawda’s success in NA-249 in general elections 2018.

Sharif had taken the stance that Faisal Vawda had rigged the elections and requested the tribunal to nullify the polls.

Talking to newsmen at the high court following the decision, Faisal Vawda thanked the Almighty that the verdict came in his favour.

It is pertinent to mention here that Faisal Vawda had bagged 35,344 votes while Shehbaz Sharif received 34,626 votes in NA-249 in General Election.
