COVID-19: Pakistan reports 1,490 new cases, 27 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 1,251,348 on Monday after 1,490 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall 460,111 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 433,286 in Punjab, 174,671 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 32,981 in Balochistan, 105,733 in Islamabad 10,332 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 34,234 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

As per the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data, 52,415 tests were conducted in last 24 hours while positivity ratio remained 2.84%.

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 27,893 with 27 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 1,177,249 after another 1,760 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, a vigorous campaign to ensure hundred per cent vaccination against COVID-19 continues across the country with enforcement of suspension of services to unvaccinated.

In compliance of instructions issues by the NCOC, special teams at district and tehsil level are checking the people in different sectors particularly transport and education to ensure mobility of only vaccinated people.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 235.736 million and death toll tops 4,816,283.
