COVID-19: Pakistan reports 1,347 new cases, 19 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 963,660 on Monday after 1,347 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall 340,902 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 346,852 in Punjab, 138,533 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 27,419 in Balochistan, 82,969 in Islamabad, 6,427 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 20,558 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

As per National Command and Operation (NCOC) data, 45,245 tests were conducted while positivity ratio remained 2.97%.

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 22,427 with 19 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 907,934 after another 650 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, the NCOC has issued detailed instructions to all federating units regarding strict implementation of Covid-19 safety protocols during Eid-ul-Azha.

The forum has directed the provincial authorities to ensure that the cattle markets are established outside the cities and the standard operating procedures (SOPs) are implemented there in the light of these guidelines.

According to the NCOC guidelines, it will be mandatory for all staff and livestock vendors to be vaccinated whereas the administration of the market will be responsible to provide facilities for hand sanitizer, masks and rapid antigen test at entry points.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 184.573 million and death toll tops 3.993 million.
