COVID-19: Pakistan reports 1,923 new cases, 84 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 930,511 on Saturday after 1,923 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall 322,350 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 341,789 in Punjab, 134,072 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 25,589 in Balochistan, 81,626 in Islamabad, 5,629 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 19,456 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

As per National Command and Operation (NCOC) data, 50,393 tests were conducted while positivity ratio remained 3.81%.

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 21,189 with 84 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 860,385 after another 4,380 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, the NCOC has stated that a special plane of Pakistan International Airlines carrying one million doses of Sinopharm vaccine has reached Islamabad.

The statement added that Pakistan will be receiving a total of 11 million doses of Sinopharm, Sinovac and Cansino vaccines during June.

"Steps are being taken to ensure the uninterrupted supply of Covid-19 vaccine in the country and the vaccination capacity is being ramped up," the NCOC said.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 171.782 million and death toll tops 3.698 million.
