Lahore (Staff Report): Zahid Mehmood Rathore, Station House Officer (SHO) of Lahore’s Rang Mahal area, was murdered in a gun attack on Monday.
As per details, Zahid along with his driver and guard was heading to Lahore from his Muridke residence when he came under attack. The inspector was left wounded and was rushed to a hospital and succumbed to his wounds later. However, his staff personnel died on the spot.
Police claimed that an old enmity led to the killing of the policeman. "SHO Mehmood's brother and nephew were also killed earlier," police said.
An investigation into the attack is underway.
Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has taken notice of the killing and summoned a report.
