JI chief, Nai Bat Media Network chairman, PTI leader demand immediate restoration of Neo News

Lahore: - Journalist organizations, students, politicians, lawyers, traders and civil society staged a protest at Charing Cross, Ravi toll Plaza, Liberty Lahore against Pakistan Electronic Media Authority (PEMRA) chairman Absar Alam’s decision to ban Neo News HD for seven days.

Addressing to protesters Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Ameer Siraj-ul-Haq strongly condemned the ban on Neo News. He urged the PEMRA chief to immediately withdraw his decision and restore the channel.

Nai Bat Media Network chairman Prof. Dr. Ch. Abdul Rehman said that Neo News was banned due to highlighting Kashmir issue and criticizing government’s wrong polices. He also vowed to provide information in a better way even after facing the ban.

PTI leader and former Governor Chaudhry Sarwar said that government should avoid using cheap tactics to let down the journalists.

PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto also strongly condemned government’s step to ban the news channel, saying “Yet again #NakaamLeague damaging democracy.Freedom of expression is inalienable right. Bring #NeoTV & all politically banned media back #PPP”
