No indication that MQM-P lawmaker Shazia Farooq took sedatives: MS

Karachi (Staff Report): Abbasi Shaheed Medical Superintendent (MS) Dr Anwar said on Tuesday that there was no indication that Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan’s (MQM-P) lawmaker Shazia Farooq had taken any sedatives.

"We received reports from doctors, nurses and paramedics and there is no indication that she took any sedatives," said Dr Anwar while talking to the media on Tuesday.

“I believe that given the current [political] context, it is possible that she was experiencing severe mental stress, therefore, gastric pain and hyper-acidity can occur,” he added.

MPA Shazia Farooq was admitted to Abbasi Shaheed on Monday night after allegedly swallowing an unadvisable amount of sedative pills.
