Defence Day: We owe our freedom, peace to sacrifices of martyrs, says COAS Bajwa

Rawalpindi (Web Desk): Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa on Tuesday said that nation owes freedom and peace to unprecedented sacrifices of martyrs to keep the country’s flag high, the military's media wing stated.

In a statement on the occasion of Defence and Martyrs Day today, the army chief said that September 6 symbolizes unwavering resolve of Pakistan Armed Forces backed by great nation to defend motherland against all odds.

Nation salutes our heroes, the COAS said in his statement posted on DG ISPR's Twitter.

The nation is observing Defence and Martyrs' Day today to pay tributes to the martyrs and Ghazis and reaffirm commitment to defend the motherland against all threats.

Special prayers were offered after Fajr prayers in mosques for progress and prosperity of the country. Fateha and Quran Khawani were also held for the martyrs.

The Defense and Martyrs Day is celebrated every year on September 6 to revitalize the national spirit, remember and eulogize the sacrifices of the martyrs, who spilled their blood for the security of the sacred motherland and marked an exemplary history of patriotism.

On September 6, 1965 that the Indian forces crossed international border in the darkness of night to attack Pakistan but the nation foiled nefarious designs of the enemy.
