COVID-19: Pakistan reports 3,338 new cases, 38 deaths in last 24 hours

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in Pakistan rose to 1,463,111 on Monday after 3,338 new cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall 552,262 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 489,655 in Punjab, 203,110 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 34,819 in Balochistan, 131,628 in Islamabad, 10,896 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 40,741 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

As per the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) data, 44, 779 tests were conducted in last 24 hours while positivity ratio remained 7.45 %.

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 29,516 with 38 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 1,344,403 after another 4,905 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar, who also heads the NCOC, on Sunday hailed the door-to-door COVID-19 immunisation drive saying that Pakistan has set highest daily vaccination records during the past three days in a row.

In a tweet, he said the nationwide mobile vaccination campaign, designed by the NCOC and being implemented with help of provinces, “producing outstanding results”.

The minister added that the target is to reach all citizens to allow us to finally end all Covid related restrictions.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 396,029 million and death toll tops 5,758,896.
