Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir to reach Islamabad today

Islamabad (Staff Report/Agencies): Saudi Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir will arrive in Islamabad today (Thursday) on a day-long official visit to Pakistan.

According to Radio Pakistan, Al-Jubeir will meet Prime Minister Imran Khan, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi to discuss bilateral matters and regional situation.

Adel al-Jubeir will also hold a meeting with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa and discuss the prevailing law and order situation in the country as well as matters of mutual interest.

The Saudi foreign minister was scheduled to arrive in Islamabad last week, however, he had delayed his visit. The reason behind the change in the schedule was not stated.

Last week, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that his Saudi counterpart will visit Pakistan with an important message from Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman.

“Last night I also spoke to the Saudi foreign minister, and he expressed his desire to visit Pakistan, which I fully supported,” the foreign minister said.

Al Jubeir will discuss the rising Indo-Pak tensions with his Pakistani counterpart during his visit. He is also expected to meet the prime minister and the army chief during his visit.

On February 17, Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman visited Pakistan and signed multi-billion dollar deals with Pakistan.
