WHO lauds Pakistan for fully COVID vaccinating over 100m individuals

Islamabad (Web Desk): The World Health Organization has lauded the government of Pakistan for fully vaccinating over 100 million individuals against COVID-19.

The WHO Country Office in Pakistan congratulated the country on achieving a huge target of mass inoculations against the contagious virus.

The WHO said this indicates the tremendous efforts made by the government of Pakistan to ensure that everyone across the country has access to COVID-19 vaccination.

On Friday, Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar announced that 100 million people across the country are now fully vaccinated.

Umar, who is also the chief of the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC), took to his official Twitter handle to announce the “major milestone reached in the national vaccination drive”. He further stated that more than 127 million Pakistanis had received at least one dose of the anti-Covid jab.

“We are very close to achieving vaccination for all eligible citizens.” he said.

The NCOC in its daily update on Sunday stated that 755 people tested positive for Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, bringing the country's total up to 1,514,258.
