Pakistan's COVID-19 death toll crosses 28,000 mark

Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): Pakistan's COVID-19 death toll crossed the 28,000 mark on Thursday, according to the data shared by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC).

The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 1,255,321 after 1,453 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.

Overall 461,869 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 434,647 in Punjab, 175,212 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 33,026 in Balochistan, 105,930 in Islamabad 10,338 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 34,299 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

As per the NCOC data, 51,343 tests were conducted in last 24 hours while positivity ratio remained 2.82%.

According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 28,032 with 46 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.

Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 1,182,894 after another 1,840 virus recoveries were reported.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations, and Coordination said on Tuesday the COVID-19 vaccination drive was running successfully in the educational institutions in the country to make the country free of coronavirus.

According to an official of the ministry, students and parents had been asked to ensure vaccination during the ongoing campaign.

It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 237.152 million and death toll tops 4,842,312.
