AMAN 19 naval exercise begins in Karachi

Karachi (Agencies): The Multinational Maritime Exercise “AMAN-19” has been started in Karachi.

According to Radio Pakistan, the drill is aimed at fostering maritime cooperation, promoting a safe and secure maritime environment for regional and global stability and for preserving oceans which is the common heritage of mankind.

Briefing the newsmen in Karachi, Commander Pakistan Fleet Vice Admiral Amjad Niazi said this exercise will comprise two phases in which contingents of forty-six countries will take part.

He said these exercises are arranged by Pakistan Navy after every two years since 2007 which are aimed at conveying a message of peace to the world.

He said that the international maritime conference will also be arranged on the occasion.

The exercise was initiated in 2007 and conducted after every two years. It will have the navies of 45 countries with Pakistan as the 46th one taking part in the action.

The principal purpose of this exercise is to provide a forum for an understanding of each other’s maritime concepts and operational cultures and come up with ways and means to combat common threats at sea.

Pakistan Army and Pakistan Air Force are also taking part in the Multinational Maritime Exercise “AMAN-19”.
