LHC suspends de-notification order of 43 PTI MNAs

Lahore (Web Desk): The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Wednesday suspended the de-notification order  suspended the Election Commission of Pakistan's (ECP) order that de-notified 43 Members of National Assembly (MNAs) belong to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

According to details, the LHC also stayed the by-elections on the 43 constituencies of the de-notified lawmakers till further notice.

Justice Shahid Karim of LHC pronounced the verdict on the petition filed by  Riaz Fatyana and other PTI MNAs against the approval of their resignations by National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervez Ashraf.

Counsel for the petitioner Barrister Ali Zafar contended that legal requirements were not fulfilled while accepting the resignations.

Justice Karim inquired about which legal requirements were not met.

The petitioner's lawyer told the court that the speaker did not hold an inquiry in line with the constitution before accepting the resignations.

After hearing the arguments, suspended the de-notification orders and issued notices to the ECP and other parties, seeking their replies over the plea.
