PM Abbasi reaches China to attend ‘BFA Conference for Asia’

Beijing (Agencies): Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi has arrived in China to lead Pakistan delegation at Boao Forum Annual (BFA) Conference for Asia, Radio Pakistan reported.

He was received warmly by the Chinese leaders at the airport. Foreign Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua and additional foreign secretary/chief of protocol Sahebzada Ahmed Khan accompanied the prime minister.

According to Foreign Office Spokesperson, main theme of the conference is "An Open and Innovative Asia for a World of greater Prosperity".

Abbasi will be one of the keynote speakers at the Forum along with President Xi Jinping, and other leaders attending the Annual Forum. The PM will also hold bilateral meetings with Chinese and other world leaders.

The Boao Forum Annual Conference for Asia has commenced with the main theme “An Open and Innovative Asia for a World of greater Prosperity”. The forum is a non-governmental and non-profit international organisation that was formally inaugurated in 2001.

It aims to promote and deepen economic exchanges, coordination, and cooperation within Asia, between Asia and other parts of the world. It offers high-end dialogue forum for government leaders, enterprises, experts and scholars to discuss economy, investment, technology, and energy related sectors in a collaborative manner.

Pakistan is one of the 26 “Initial Countries” of the forum.
