BNP-M, PTI sign six-point deal for alliance at Centre

Quetta (Staff Report): Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) on Wednesday agreed to support Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) for the formation of government in Centre.

According to details, a six-point deal was signed between Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) after a delegation led by Shah Mehmmod Qureshi and Jahangir Tareen called on BNP-M chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal.

As per the agreement signed by Mr Mengal and Mr Qureshi, the BNP-M will support PTI candidates for the positions of prime minister and speaker and deputy speaker of the National Assembly.

The document was signed by Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind, Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Jahangir Khan Tareen from the PTI and Sardar Akhtar Mengal, Jahangzeb Jamal Dini and Agha Hasan Baloch on behalf of the BNP-M.

Addressing a joint press conference after signing the agreement, Akhtar Mengal and Shah Mehmood Qureshi announced that the two sides had agreed on six points.

The six points of the deal include recovery of missing persons, implementation of the National Action Plan, implementation of six per cent quota for Balochistan in the federal government, immediate repatriation of Afghan refugees and the construction of dams in the province to resolve the acute water crisis.

BNP-M chief Sardar Akhtar Mengalsaid that he had held a detailed telephonic conversation with Imran Khan.

We hope that joint efforts would be made to address the challenges being faced by Balochistan,” he said, adding that the people of Balochistan had been facing difficulties for the past 70 years.

Mengal said the PTI has agreed to BNP-M’s six points as we wanted to seek reassurance that our issues will be addressed.

PTI leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that the issue of missing persons would be addressed on a priority basis and added that National Action Plan (NAP) would be implemented.

Meanwhile, PTI’s Balochistan president Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind said development of the province was part of the PTI's manifesto.

He said the PTI would support Jam Kamal's government and lend unconditional support to the province's leadership.

On this occasion BAP chief Jam Kamal said that there was a dire to fix things based on facts and figures instead of mere words. He acknowledged that the PTI will be part of the Balochistan government.

On July 31, Balochistan Awami party announced to form coalition government with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in Balochistan.

The Balochistan Awami Party (BAP) on August 4 nominated its president Jam Kamal as the candidate for CM slot and former chief minister Abdul Quddus Bizenjo as the Balochistan Assembly speaker.
