LHC directs govt to decide on Maryam's ECL plea within 7 days

Lahore (Staff Report/Agencies): The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Monday directed the Federal government to decide on Maryam Nawaz’s plea seeking the removal of her name from the Exit Control List (ECL) within seven days.

A two-judge bench headed by Justice Ali Baqar Najafi heard the petition.

In her petition, Maryam Nawaz had expressed concern for her father's health and requested the court to allow her to travel abroad for six weeks.

Last month, the LHC granted bail to Maryam Nawaz in the Chaudhry Sugar Mills (CSM) case.

The PML-N leader was arrested by NAB in August and has been in custody of the accountability watchdog, which accused her of corruption and corrupt practices as defined under section 9(a) of NAO 1999 and schedule thereto and AML Act 2010.
