Lahore/Quetta/Karachi/Peshawar (Staff Report/Agencies): Pakistan's COVID-19 death toll crossed the 24,000 mark on Tuesday, according to the data shared by the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC).
The number of confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 1,075,504 after 3,884 new coronavirus cases surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours.
Overall 401,790 cases were confirmed in Sindh, 365,824 in Punjab, 149,056 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 31,234 in Balochistan, 91,217 in Islamabad, 8,876 in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and 27,507 in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).
As per the NCOC data, 49,506 tests were conducted in last 24 hours while positivity ratio remained 7.84%.
According to the government's COVID-19 portal, the death toll related to coronavirus has reached to 24,004 with 86 fatalities reported during the last 24 hours.
Over the last twenty four hours, total number of recovered COVID-19 patients across the country reached 967,073 after another 2,669 virus recoveries were reported.
Meanwhile, the NCOC on Monday decided that only vaccinated individuals would be allowed to travel by rail from October 1.
The meeting chaired by Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar expressed concern over the growing spread of COVID-19 in the country and especially in Rawalpindi and Peshawar.
The forum issued instructions to the concerned districts to implement the safety protocols and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
It is pertinent to mention that the global coronavirus cases have reportedly surpassed 204.166 million and death toll tops 4,316,541.
