US defence secretary appreciates Pak Army’s role against terrorism

Rawalpindi (Staff Report): The US Secretary of Defense lauded the sacrifices and resilience of the people and Pakistan’s armed forces and appreciated the role the Pakistan Army has played in fight the scourge of terrorism.

Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement that Chief of the Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa held a telephonic conversation with US Secretary of Defense James Mattis which lasted for 20 minutes.

According to ISPR, General Bajwa congratulated the secretary for assuming new responsibility and expressed the hope that his vast experience in the field will be of great value to region.

According to the US Department of Defence issued a readout regarding the conversation between the two personalities which stated that Mattis lauded Pakistan Army's role in fighting militants in FATA and the sacrifices it had given.

Both reaffirmed commitment towards the common goal of peace and stability in the region and discussed measures towards that end. They also agreed on continued engagement at multiple levels.
