Pakistan beat New Zealand by 6 wickets in first ODI

Karachi (Web Desk): Pakistan defeated New Zealand by six wickets in the first in the first one-day international (ODI) of three-match series in Karachi on Monday.

Batting first, New Zealand scored 256-run target for Pakistan for the the loss of 9 wickets in stipulated 50 overs.

Fast-bowler Naseem Shah grabbed his second five-wicket haul to help Pakistan restrict New Zealand to 255-9.

In reply, Pakistan achieved the target for the loss of 4 wickets in 48.1 overs.

Naseem Shah of Pakistan was declared man of the match.

Earlier, Pakistan won the toss and decided to filed first against New Zealand.

Pakistan handed an ODI cap to 27-year-old leg-spinner Usama Mir, while New Zealand included all-rounder Henry Shipley, 26, for his first international.

The second match of the series will be played at the same venue on Wednesday.
