Nine more coronavirus cases emerge in Karachi, taking provincial tally to 13

Karachi (Staff Report/Agencies): At least nine new cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Karachi, marking the biggest increase in the number of patients since it was first detected in the country last month — taking the total tally to 13 in the province and 16 in the country.

A spokesperson for the provincial health department confirmed that six of the new patients had returned to Pakistan from Syria via Doha, Qatar, while the other three arrived from London via Dubai.

At present, 16 infected people were under treatment, the spokesperson added. The first patient of coronavirus, on the other hand, recovered last week and was discharged.

Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah directed all the government and private hospitals to share the record of all the patients with symptoms of pneumonia with the health ministry so that their medical investigation could be done to contain the spread of virus.
